Our judges have now selected the three finalists for each category of this year’s Excellence in Care Awards — a tough job, with more entries than ever and an exceptionally high standard across the board.

📘 September Online Training – Time to Refocus

With the holiday season over and children back at school, September is the perfect moment to refocus on staff learning and development. Our WMCA online training programme offers flexible, high‑quality courses to ensure your team is confident, compliant and ready for the months ahead. Members benefit from reduced rates, and many courses are mapped to the Skills for Care Care Certificate, supporting induction , refresher learning and the theoretical Care Certificate components.

Government funding remains available for certain training costs.

💪 National Fitness Day – Wednesday 16 September

National Fitness Day is a great opportunity for care providers to highlight the importance of physical activity in supporting the health and wellbeing of residents, service users and staff.

Led by ukactive, this year’s theme — “Powered by You” — celebrates the small, everyday movements that help people stay active, confident and connected. Whether it’s chair‑based exercise, dance sessions, strength and balance activities or simple garden walks, every action contributes to better wellbeing.
